If you are interested in training in clinical hypnosis, or wish to do a
post graduate medical course in the subject, then contact the London College
of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH), founded by Michael Joseph in 1984. They now
run courses all over the country. In my opinion it is the best such organisation
and provides a good balance of practical and academic work. They offer a
grounding in many of the various aspects such as Ericksonian Hypnotherapy
and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), and you are also given a training
in the basic art of hypnosis - lacking in certain other courses which are
fashion conscious and jargonised to an extreme. With the LCCH you will also
receive proper training as a therapist and the practical approach is fairly
good. Before I enrolled with them, I did a fair bit of searching and heard
lots of opinions about various courses. I hope this recommendation will
save you the same time and effort. There are other good organisations but
they don't have the charismatic Michael Joseph in the background. Also,
check that they don't place too much emphasis on NLP or regression therapy. |

Music for self hypnosis and relaxation
I sometimes get clients asking me where they can get hold of the hypnotic type music that I use during sessions. If you've ever tried getting hold of the right kind of music you'll know how difficult it can be to get a CD that is good all the way through. The two CDs that I have found work best for hypnosis (or relaxation) are: 'Stonehenge' and 'Mysteries' both by Runestone. They are quite hard to get hold of but are sometimes available from Amazon (see below). Natural Sleep Inducement is also quite good and is much cheaper but Stonehenge and Mysteries are in a different class. |
